Scale Functional Nintendo Controller Coffee Table

This geektastic coffee table is a fully functional NES controller and an awesome reason to dig out your old Nintendo Entertainment System. MillerWoodshop designed and built the enormous controller to scale with the original handheld NES controller. It comes ready to plug right into your Nintendo system, but you might need a partner to help you cover all the buttons when playing a game.

“Each button is sensitive to the touch, tweaked to feel like the real deal. The actual controller wire pulls out of the table to reach your system and easily pushes right back into its hole for easy storage. A heavy coat of clear polyurethane has been added to protect your table from scratches or rings from a glass.”

Currently available via the MillerWorkshop Etsy store.

Tony Hawk Takes the World’s First Hoverboard for a Ride

In a new video by The RIDE Channel, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk takes the Hendo Hover (previously) for a spin, riding the real-life hoverboard on a small copper half-pipe specially designed for the technology. Hawk doesn’t exactly master the board right away, but he does put on a good show of it, almost pulling off an infamously difficult skating trick in the process.

That was my first 1080.

Company Shows Off its First Marijuana Breathalyzer

Cannabix Technologies says it showed off its own device this week at the National Marijuana Business Conference and Expo in Las Vegas. (See a video of it below).

The company says, in the hands of police, its gadget can provide instant results about whether or not someone has marijuana in their system. That compares to days or even weeks for blood-based drug tests. The firm is also peddling the breathalyzer to–sigh–employers concerned about workers being high on the job.

Mercedes-Benz Unveils Solar-Powered Vision G-Code Concept

Mercedes-Benz looks toward the future with the unveiling of the solar-powered Vision G-Code concept. The vehicle was presented at the opening of the German automobile manufacturer’s new Research and Development center in Beijing. The concept takes the form of a Sports Utility Coupe that comes in at 161 inches shorter than the GLA. Despite the small size, however, the Vision G-Code sports a handful of impressive features, including multi-voltaic silver paint that turns the entire body into one continuous solar panel. The paint fuels the electric portion of the unspecified hybrid powertrain that offers through-the-road all-wheel drive and the option of pure electric drive. A holographic grille in front indicates what mode the vehicle is in, while LED headlights appear alongside. Another strip of LEDs wrap around the back and tiny cameras pop out of the hidden A-pillars to act as rear-view mirrors in classic concept fashion. Additional features include 21-inch wheels (constructed of aluminum rims with carbon spokes), short overhangs, aluminum skid plates and an F-1-like steering wheel.

Of course, we can’t realistically expect to the Vision G-Code to hit production any time soon, but it does give an indication of where Mercedes-Benz is headed in terms of technology and design.
